VSL offer a wide range of minor civil engineering works to principal contractors across both Rail and mainstream Construction. These services include:

Construction and the setting up of site compound facilities, the renewal and upgrading of depot facilities and carparks, the installation and maintenance of Drainage systems and Culverts, the erection and maintenance of fencing and gates and the installation of debris netting on structures.

VSL are approved installers for both Strail and Rosehill access systems, our fully certified and trained installation teams can undertake installations during track possessions to suit the client’s needs to provide both temporary and permanent installations compliant to Network Rail Standards.

VSL can undertake works to temporarily remove and relocate line side cables and the trough routes in which they are normally located to facilitate infrastructure renewals works. Existing cables can be placed on temporary hangers fixed to the structure, and the troughs removed and securely stored onsite. Once the renewals works have been completed the trough route is reinstated and the cables repositioned in the route, and the temporary fixing system removed and subsequent holes repaired.

VSL provides welfare managers to infrastructure principal contractors, who during core works manage the compound and facilities on behalf of the contractor. The welfare managers ensure that the facilities are clean at all times, and as an option supply welfare packs which include hot and cold drinks, snacks and drinks to ensure the wellbeing of staff on site. The use of these managers contributed to a dramatic drop in welfare related breakdowns and close calls due to facilities not being maintained to the highest standards.
